The Ultimate 1D Fan’s Guide to London

It’s been a month since I was in London for spring break and I seriously miss it so much! While I was reminiscing, I decided to make a list of the top spots any 1D fan should visit while in London. Some of them date back to the very beginnings of 1D, but if you follow this list, you should be able to see the major sites and even eat some good food along the way.

Wembley Stadium – Arena Square, Engineers Way, London HA9 0AA, United Kingdom

Wembley Stadium is where it all started for the 5 boys of 1D – X Factor Bootcamp. This is where we found out Zayn couldn’t dance, suffered heartbreak ourselves when they showed each member crying when they were cut, and rejoiced when Simon finally united our boys into the band we know today as One Direction.

Trafalgar Square, Houses of Parliament, Millennium Bridge

The One Thing video was filmed all around London, on double decker buses, and in front of famous landmarks, like these. Bonus points if you recreate your own version of the One Thing video as you’re cruising around London.

10 Downing Street, Houses of Parliament, London Eye

Keeping with the music video trend, 1D shows off more London landmarks in their video of their cover of One Way or Another. Spoiler alert: 10 Downing Street is the home of Prime Minister David Cameron, calling for a ton of security and fences. Sadly, you won’t be able to recreate 1D’s moves in front of the famous door, but you can peer through the fence and just know they once were there.

O2 London – Peninsula Square, London SE10 0DX, United Kingdom

The O2 Arena has been home to countless One Direction concerts and the annual Radio 1 Teen Awards, where 1D has won numerous awards. If you’re lucky, you should try and see a show in the arena… even though it won’t be 1D, it would still be awesome!

Milkshake City – 2 Halliwick Court Parade N12 0NB, United Kingdom

Way back in the X Factor days, the boys frequented this milkshake cafe like it was going out of style. They even got their own milkshake named after them, so if you want a snack on your sightseeing tour, stop by this store and order the 1D special!

Nando’s – Anywhere in the city

Any true 1D fan knows that Niall is obsessed with Nando’s, so it’s only necessary that in London, you eat some famous peri-peri chicken. I actually ate here while I was in Australia and it’s really delicious!

BBC Broadcasting House – Broadcasting House, Portland Pl, Marylebone, London W1A 1AA, UK

The BBC Broadcasting House is home to Radio 1, the hit music station in the UK. Nick Grimshaw, Harry’s longtime BFF and radio host extraordinaire also broadcasts the Breakfast Show from here each weekday morning, and the Live Lounges are recorded here as well. I toured here and was freaking out the whole time… just like 1D is in this gif.

Leicester Square

Leicester Square was the home to the 1D 3D movie premiere. If you haven’t watched this movie or it’s been a while, you might want to find it on Netflix ASAP. Also, Leicester Square is a fun little area with a lot of cute shops!

Madame Tussauds – Marylebone Rd, London NW1 5LR, United Kingdom

1D are so legit, they have their own wax figures. If you’re like me and have never met the boys in real life (sad), swing by Madame Tussauds and take a pic. Most of the boys look pretty lifelike… nobody will ever know the difference!

The Roundhouse – Chalk Farm Rd, London NW1 8EH, United Kingdom

The Roundhouse is home to the legendary iTunes Music Festival, featuring tons of great artists, but most importantly, 1D. The band also released an awesome EP from the show, which features some live versions of songs – which are hard to find in high quality.

*BONUS* Transport is easy in London, especially if there are way too many people in the Addison Lee! You’re doing London as a 1D fan right if you take this taxi service to your destinations rather than the bus or tube, and you’ll be sure to have lots of Midnight Memories!
